Mike Reilly, the former senior vice president of external relations for the US end of the UK-headquartered business and financial information group Reuters PLC, is now running ‘a management consultancy – called Hally Enterprises Inc – specialising in international investor relations and corporate communications.’
Reilly says that means he is offering strategic planning assistance for both non-US companies with American operations and/or listings and for domestic US companies from his base in Long Island, New York.
While at Reuters, Reilly was involved in a wide range of communications activities, including government and media relations. But he made his name through building an investor relations function for the company which helped make Reuters – through its NYSE-listed ADRs – one of the most widely-held non-American stocks.
Although now striking out on his own, Reilly has not severed all connections with Reuters. On the contrary, he is currently handling several projects for his former employer and, he says, ‘I look forward to assisting other firms as I have Reuters.’
Reilly’s dominant interest is in ‘educating off-shore firms and newly public organisations on the best means of establishing and maintaining relationships with investors for the long term,’ he explains. ‘There is a sense at the high end of the field that all that can be known is known, but this attitude belies rapid change in the market place and a requirement for more trusting relationships.’
