After spending 10 years as head of IR at German power company RWE, it was fitting that Ingo Alpheus, in the year he stepped down from the role, was awarded best IRO at a large cap at the IR Magazine Europe Awards 2010. Alpheus goes on to become RWE’s chairman of the management board.
Speaking at the awards, Alpheus advises other IR chiefs to focus on developing their team. ‘Choose the right people and let them do a lot of stuff independently,’ he tells IR magazine. ‘Don’t try to be the number one always.’
