Kay Bommer to step down from DIRK

Kay Bommer, general manager of DIRK, the German investor relations association, has announced he will step down at the end of the year.

Bommer, a lawyer by trade, joined DIRK 10 years ago and has held the position of general manager for the past nine. He announced his decision to the DIRK board earlier this month.

Hard-working and popular, Bommer will be missed not only by DIRK and its German members but also by the global IR community, which has recently benefited from his drive thanks to his chairmanship of the Global IR Network.

Speaking with IR magazine, Bommer says he felt the time was right to move on. ‘I’ve been at DIRK for 10 years and, despite all the love I have for the organization, I feel it’s time to try something else,’ he explains.

Bommer says he has no definite plans for what he will do next. He does, however, currently hold three positions on supervisory boards and says this is an area he would like to concentrate on more.

His move coincides with the decision by DIRK to allow private individuals to join the organization. The association says this will help establish DIRK as a representative body for all members of the IR community, not just issuers.
