BASF in pole position as Best Practice Awards near

BASF, the German chemicals company, leads the field with four nominations for tonight’s IR Society Best Practice Awards.

BASF has been nominated for awards for best communication of corporate responsibility in the annual report, best overall annual report, best use of a website and most effective use of online technology.

The nominations are the latest plaudits for the highly regarded IR team at BASF: earlier this year, the company won the prize for best overall IR by a large cap at the IR Magazine Europe Awards.

Adidas and Centrica follow closely behind BASF, with three nominations each.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges including: Marc Jobling, assistant director of corporate governance at the Association of British Insurers; Liz Murrall, director of corporate governance and reporting at the Investment Management Association; and David Paterson, head of corporate governance at the National Association of Pension Funds.

‘This year we have seen many more companies raise their game and in a number of categories we have extended the short lists as the scoring is so close,’ says John Dawson, deputy chairman of the UK’s IR Society and chairman of the best practice committee, in a statement announcing the nominations.
