TSMC and HTC square up for Greater China Awards

Two Taiwanese companies dominate the nominations for the IR Magazine Greater China Awards, which are set to take place at the Conrad Hong Kong on December 1, 2011.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and HTC both feature on eight award short lists out of a total of 30 categories. The nominations pitch TSMC, a regular winner at IR magazine’s awards, against newcomer HTC, which has never appeared on the short list before.

Anta Sports, the Chinese sportswear brand, has bagged six nominations, while Cosco Pacific, Hang Lung, SmarTone Telecommunications and Li & Fung are each short-listed for four awards.

The winners and nominees are determined by an independent survey conducted by Mary Maude Research of more than 300 buy-side analysts, sell-side analysts and portfolio managers based in the region.

Held in association with the Hong Kong Investor Relations Association, the event is co-sponsored by Arkadin IR Events, BNY Mellon Depositary Receipts, Jefferies and NASDAQ OMX.

Challenging IR

‘In a period of such volatility in global stock markets and in the world economy – involving Asia at least as much as anywhere else – IR is both more challenging and more crucial,’ comments Janet Dignan, founding editor of IR magazine, in a statement.

‘I’m delighted our awards will once again be recognizing the top performers, and that the conference will provide the opportunity for analysis and advancement of best practice investor relations.’

Following the event, an extensive report on the winners and short-listed companies will be published in IR magazine‘s Investor Perception Study, Asia 2011/2012.

The study will include the new Asia Top 50 IR ranking, a comprehensive list of the top companies across Greater China and South East Asia.
