JPMorgan names Youngwood IRO

JPMorgan has named Sarah Youngwood as managing director and head of investor relations for the financial services giant, starting last month at the corporate headquarters in New York.

Youngwood began her career at JPMorgan 14 years ago as an investment banking associate working in London and Paris before moving to the US in 1999.

She worked in the financial institution group, serving clients in the financial services industry.

Youngwood became familiar with the IR role on the job working on M&A transactions and fundraising.

‘By definition, I was helping companies tell their equity story to investors… working almost as a consultant,’ she explains.

‘I understood financial institutions quite well and understood the investor side of the equation.’

Despite the challenges the banking sector and JPMorgan have faced in recent years, Youngwood is looking forward to her new role and the opportunity to work with the bank’s senior management team.

‘If you’ve spent 14 years covering financial institutions and have the opportunity to work with the best management team, it’s an opportunity you should grab,’ she says.

Youngwood graduated from the École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur, a business school in Paris.

As part of her studies, she did an exchange program at Stanford University in California.

Youngwood replaces Lauren Tyler, who has moved to a new role as general auditor within the bank.
