ME-IR launches Abu Dhabi chapter

The Middle East IR Society (ME-IR) has announced the launch of a new chapter in Abu Dhabi, its sixth chapter this year. Saif Sayah Al Mansouri, head of listed companies at the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), will chair the new organization.

The Abu Dhabi chapter will include individuals from other ADX listed companies, including Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Agthia, First Gulf Bank, National Bank of Abu Dhabi and TAQA.

The new chapter’s aims – in addition to improving IR practices – include creating a networking platform and boosting the reputation of all companies, whether private or public, in Abu Dhabi.

ME-IR has progressed rapidly in 2012, launching other chapters in Dubai, Palestine, Kuwait, Omar and Qatar.

‘The ME-IR Society is thrilled to see ADX promote the importance of investor relations through the launch of the Abu Dhabi chapter,’ ME-IR’s general manager Maria Hunt tells IR magazine.

She adds that the board ‘encourages all capital market participants and key stakeholders, such as issuers, investors and regulators, to actively contribute to the overall goal of improving IR standards in Abu Dhabi as this will no doubt benefit the entire financial community in the UAE.’

The chapter’s first IR conference, along with training days to achieve the Certified Investor Relations Officer qualification developed by the UK’s IR Society, will take place in Abu Dhabi in September.
