One IR appointment and one promotion at Apache

Apache Corporation, a Houston-based oil and gas exploration and production company, has appointed Brady Parish as vice president of investor relations, reporting to chairman and CEO Roger Plank.

He joins from boutique investment bank Moelis & Company where he was a managing director for the oil and gas advisory practice since 2011.

An MBA graduate from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a certified public accountant, Parish has more than 20 years’ experience in oil and gas investment banking and business development, with roles in the global energy and power group at Merrill Lynch and in the global natural resources group at Goldman Sachs.

Alfonso Leon, who served as vice president of planning, strategy and IR at Apache since 2009, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief of staff. His new role will focus on performance and portfolio management, partner relationships and the development of new business opportunities.

Leon earned both his BA in economics and his MBA from Harvard University. He started his career as a financial analyst at Citigroup in 1998, later joining Merrill Lynch’s oil and gas investment banking team as an associate.

He was then hired by Shell in 2003 to serve as strategy adviser, moving on to be a director for oil and gas at investment boutique Perella Weinberg from 2006 to 2009.

Apache has operations in the US, Canada, Egypt, the UK, Australia and Argentina. The company produced an average 748 barrels of oil per day last year, generating $17 bn in revenue. Its total proven reserves are estimated at 1.99 bn barrels of oil equivalent and its total assets at $52 bn.
