New vice president of IR at Alamos Gold

Canadian-based gold producer Alamos Gold has appointed Jo Mira Clodman to join its management team and serve as vice president of investor relations.

She will work alongside IRO Allan Candelario until December 21 when he leaves Alamos. Candelario will join Rubicon Minerals on January 2, 2013, as director of investor relations.

‘Alamos has strong relationships with the investment community,’ says Clodman. ‘As the company continues to grow, we expect to increase our use of various channels and tools of communication. At the same time, we recognize that what investors and analysts need from an IR department never really changes,’ she adds.

‘They want timely, thoughtful and credible information. We believe that Alamos has a compelling story and we intend to deliver it with clarity and conviction.’

Clodman graduated with a BSc from the University of Toronto, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Carleton University. She started her career as a reporter for Canadian daily newspaper The Hamilton Spectator.

She joins Alamos from Clodman Hecht Communications, an IR and corporate communications consultancy she co-founded 21 years ago. Prior to this, she served as vice president of corporate communications for movie theatre operator Cineplex Odeon, and was director of financial communications at Northern Telecom.

A member of CIRI’s board of directors, Clodman gained recognition at the IR Magazine Awards ‒ Canada 2009, winning the accolade for lifetime achievement in investor relations. She was also honored with CIRI’s award for excellence in investor relations in 1996.

Alamos, which is listed on Toronto Stock Exchange, has exploration, development and production activities in Mexico and Turkey. The company’s president and CEO John McCluskey was named Ontario entrepreneur of the year by Ernst & Young last October. During his tenure, the company has grown from a start-up in 2003 to an established gold miner with $227 mn in revenue.
