Strategas Research Partners, which provides macro research, advisory and capital market services to some of the world’s largest mutual funds, investment advisers and hedge funds, has bought Ohio-based IR firm Voyager Institutional Services for an undisclosed amount.
As well as investor relations, Voyager also offers non-deal roadshow services for listed companies traded in the US and specializes in connecting companies to institutional investors in the Midwest.
Building on its planned expansion of services, the deal will allow Strategas to offer its institutional investor clients ‘a new channel to corporate managements,’ according to a company statement. Corporate executives will also now have access to Strategas’ global macroeconomic research, previously only available to investors, adds the firm.
‘We are very pleased that Voyager co-founders John Schoger and Dianne Iannarino and their team will be joining Strategas,’ Jason Trennert, Strategas managing partner and chairman, says in the statement. He adds, ‘our relationships and offerings are complementary and give clients new options in research and network building.’
Voyager’s Schoger explains that ‘the exceptional Strategas reputation for quality and service’ was one of the ‘compelling factors’ in the transaction. ‘There are few acquirers we would consider suitable, and Strategas is foremost among them,’ he says.
The Voyager team will now join Strategas’ 40 research analysts, institutional salesmen, and sales traders, at its offices in New York, Washington DC, and Columbus, Ohio.
The deal secures Strategas’ second planned growth phase under founder Jason Trennert, following the launch of Strategas Securities – a wholly owned broker-dealer subsidiary – in 2010, and offering ‘a broad suite of capital market services to institutional investors and corporate executives around the world’.
