NYSE-listed IHS, a global research firm specializing in the industrial, scientific, technical and medical spheres, has appointed Eric Boyer as its new vice president of investor relations.
Boyer is a seasoned sell-side analyst who spent the last six years at Wells Fargo, most recently serving as vice president and senior equity analyst focusing on the information, business services and IT services sectors, where his coverage included IHS.
A business graduate of Penn State University, he started his career working as a systems integration consultant at PwC, later joining Deutsche Bank’s equity research division as an IT services analyst. In 2004 he was hired to perform the same role at Wachovia, now part of the Wells Fargo group.
Speaking to IR Magazine about his appointment, Boyer says: ‘I look forward to a new role within the investment process with a great company such as IHS and becoming part of the community of investor relations professionals with whom I have had the pleasure of working during my 12-year career as a sell-side analyst.’
IHS, which was known as Information Handling Services before its IPO in 2005, was created in 1959 as the microfilm catalog branch of Rogers Publishing and initially serviced the aerospace industry.
The firm now provides information, insight and analytics to business and government clients in more than 165 countries, with niche brands such as Cambridge Energy Research Associates, defense specialist Jane’s Information Group, electronics expert IMS Research and media intelligence firms iSuppli and Screen Digest, among others.
