New head of IR at Vivendi

Laurent Mairot has been named as the new head of IR and corporate development at Paris-headquartered Vivendi, succeeding deputy CFO and head of IR of five years Jean-Michel Bonamy, who is leaving the firm.

A graduate of IPAG Business School and the Université de Lille 2’s Ecole Supérieure des Affaires, Mairot started his career as an equity analyst at ING, joining Vivendi in 2000 as senior vice president of M&A for VivendiNet, a subsidiary that regrouped the firm’s digital content and activities.

Between 2004 and 2012, he held senior financial roles at the firm including corporate vice president of interactive entertainment strategy and development, and senior vice president of budget planning, management control and holding companies’ accounting.

Mairot was CFO and member of the management board for Vivendi’s Maroc Telecom subsidiary until it was sold to UAE telecoms group Etisalat in July 2014. For a short spell he was also executive vice president of finance business development and a member of the CEO’s office. He holds an executive MBA from INSEAD.

Vivendi started out in 1853 as water supplier Compagnie Générale des Eaux, later diversifying its activities into construction, energy, waste management and telecommunications. In 2000 the group was split into an environmental branch, Veolia, and Vivendi Universal, which focuses on digital entertainment via French TV channel Canal+ and music major Universal. The Euronext-listed group posted €22.1 bn ($26.1 bn) in revenue and €2.7 bn in profit for 2013.
