With the IR Magazine Awards ‒ Canada 2015 now just over two weeks away, the short lists are out and tension is mounting.
Nearly 300 Canadian analysts and portfolio managers told IR Magazine’s researchers which companies are giving them the best investor relations service across a range of different areas, from financial reporting and use of technology to investor meetings and sustainability, from the quality of IR personnel to the effectiveness of senior management.
The investor perception study took the form of in-depth telephone interviews conducted by independent researchers who cross-examined the respondents both to identify award winners and to garner their opinions about the quality of investor relations in Canada more generally.
Now the votes have been counted and the short lists reveal that CN and TD Bank Group retain their dominant positions. These two have led the IR Magazine Canada Top 50 for the past three years, and in 2015 they appear on no fewer than 17 short lists between them: TD Bank appears on nine, CN appears on eight.
This year’s event, the 17th IR Magazine Awards ‒ Canada, will take place at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto on February 4. And today’s publication of the short lists reveals who will be in contention. Following CN and TD Bank in the short list tally are ARC Resources on seven, and Agnico Eagle mines and TELUS, both on six.
In total, 55 companies are nominated for 31 awards and a total of 19 companies will collect awards on the night.
