Isle of Man-headquartered Playtech has announced the appointment of Andrew Smith to the position of head of IR.

Smith, who trained as a solicitor after studying at the University of Birmingham and the College of Law in Guildford, was recently head of IR and strategic projects at Temenos, a Swiss provider of banking software systems. Prior to this he held senior roles in corporate broking at Hoare Govett and Deutsche Bank.
Playtech’s former head of IR of two years Adam Kay recently moved on to a similar role at Just Eat, the online food-ordering platform, which listed a year ago on the London Stock Exchange’s (LSE) newly created High Growth Segment. This special section allows companies to offer less than the 25 percent of shares normally required for a listing.
Kay had joined the gaming firm from Signet Group, a UK-based retail jeweler listed in both New York and London, where he was an IR manager for nearly eight years. The Ashridge Business School MBA alumnus previously worked as a proxy solicitor for Georgeson Computershare, with earlier experience as a remuneration consultant for Aon Consulting and as head of research for Manifest.
Playtech, a constituent of the FTSE 250, went public in 2006 on the LSE’s Alternative Investment Market and upgraded to the main listing in 2012.
