Kroton wins big at the IR Magazine Awards – Brazil 2015

Belo Horizonte-headquartered Kroton was named number one in the IR Magazine Brazil Top 30 last night, and won six trophies at the awards event in São Paulo.

The full list of this year’s Brazil Top 30 is available in the Portuguese-language Investor Perception Study ‒ Brazil 2015.

In a sweep of the top awards, Kroton took home the coveted grand prix for best overall investor relations in the super-large-cap category (above R$20 bn), while head of IR Carlos Lazar claimed the best investor relations officer award among the super-large-cap contenders and Kroton CEO Rodrigo Galindo won the gong for best IR by a CEO or CFO.

Kroton also picked up awards for most progress in IR and best investor meetings in the large-cap category for companies over R$3 bn, as well as the best in sector trophy for consumer cyclicals.

Brazilian car rental company Localiza won the grand prix for best overall investor relations in the large-cap category (between R$3 bn and R$20 bn) and ranked fifth in the Top 30, while Anima – another education company – took grand prix for best overall investor relations in the small & mid-cap category (below R$3 bn).

As well as its grand prix award and fourth place in the Brazil Top 30, Anima’s head of IR Leonardo Haddad claimed the best investor relations officer accolade, while the company won further awards for best investor meetings and most progress in IR – all in the small & mid-cap category.

Among the large-cap contenders, Antônio Emílio Fugazza, head of IR at Brazilian homebuilder EZTEC, was named best investor relations officer.

Two special awards were given out on the night to mega-cap companies (above R$50 bn): food giant BRF took the best conference call award, while the best use of technology gong went to Itaú Unibanco. This year’s number two in the Brazil Top 30, Itaú Unibanco, also won the best annual report award and the best in sector in the financials category.

Best corporate governance was taken by clothing company Lojas Renner, which also took third place in the Brazil Top 30. Best sustainability practice went to manufacturer Natura, which also claimed the sector award among consumer non-cyclicals.
