At the double at the IR Society awards

Four companies went home doubly happy from last night’s Best Practice Awards, held by the UK’s IR Society, after picking up two gongs apiece.

British Land, the property firm responsible for London’s ‘Cheesegrater’ skyscraper, won awards in the FTSE 100 category for communication of company investment proposition and use of sustainability reporting.

BASF, competing in the international segment of the awards, also won for communication of company investment proposition, as well as for its digital communications.

The two other double-winners on the night were Trifast, the industrial fastenings maker, and travel firm Go-Ahead Group.

The first part of the awards, focusing mainly on corporate reporting, was decided by a panel of judges, which this year included IR Society chair Sue Scholes, Hermes Investment Management associate director Tim Goodman and PwC’s director of investor engagement Hilary Eastman.

The second part, by contrast, is voted on by investors and analysts and has just three categories: best newcomer, won by Adam Phillips of Halfords Group; best IRO, awarded to David Walker of Hays; and best overall company IR, scooped by AstraZeneca.

A full list of winners is available on the IR Society’s website.
