Dow names new IR head

Dow Chemical has announced that Neal Sheorey, director in strategy development, has been promoted to serve as the NYSE-listed firm’s new vice president of IR.

A chemical engineering graduate of Northwestern University and a University of Michigan MBA alumnus, Sheorey has been with Dow Chemical for 17 years, working in various financial roles. He is no stranger to investor relations, having spent time in the IR team from 2009 to 2012.

He subsequently worked as finance director for the chemicals business group. During his mandate, he was involved in ‘the split-off transaction and separation of a significant part of Dow’s chlor-alkali and downstream derivatives businesses,’ according to a company release. He joined the strategy development team in 2014 where he led various projects for vice chairman and CFO Howard Ungerleider.

The Midland, Michigan-headquartered firm’s former IRO Jack Broodo is moving on to serve as president of feedstocks and energy within the firm’s hydrocarbons business.

‘Dow’s market-driven strategy has brought us to a defining moment in our company’s history,’ says Ungerleider in the release. ‘Jack’s leadership has reinforced our commitment to regular and transparent dialogue with our investors and we will maintain that focus going forward. Neal’s finance leadership roles with several Dow businesses, previous experience in investor relations and in-depth understanding of the company’s strategy and key deliverables will be core to maintaining our focus on driving valuable and meaningful dialogue with the investment community.’
