A post-truth world
The IR Society’s annual conference is this year not only in the heart of one of Europe’s financial centers but also at the heart of Brexit. The UK’s decision to leave the European Union, along with ‘the seismic changes’ going on in the geopolitical, economic, regulatory and capital markets landscapes make up the theme for the IR Society’s 31st annual conference, ‘A new world order’, and how IR can not only respond to it but also rise to meet it.

Highlighting the fact that no function can operate in isolation (perhaps least so investor relations, where professionals need to have their eye on so many balls) the first session planned for the conference looks at the many changes afoot. Evan Davis, presenter of the BBC current affairs program Newsnight, moderates a discussion on issues around data, the media and a post-truth world.

Breakouts, C-suite, buy side, and more
Four breakout sessions – two in the morning and two after lunch – allow attendees to pick from a choice of topics covering IR in practice. There’s also an interview with the C-suite, a look at changes taking place on the buy side and an interview with Anne Richards, chief executive of M&G Investments.

All (regulatory) change
From the Market Abuse Regulation to Mifid II, a large part of the new world that IROs are facing comes in the form of regulation. But the IR Society has a two-part session to deal with that. Part one: What IROs need to know. Part two: How IR could be affected.
