Chris Gaskill

Christopher B. Gaskill joined Summit Materials in 2015 and became Chief Legal Officer in 2021. In this role, Chris has led significant corporate governance transformations, including the declassification of the board, the introduction of an employee stock purchase program, and the integration of ESG oversight into the board’s responsibilities. His leadership has been critical in modernizing Summit’s governance practices, improving transparency, and driving long-term shareholder value.

Before joining Summit, Chris held senior legal roles at The Western Union Company and Cardinal Health, Inc., where he developed extensive expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and legal strategy for multinational businesses. He began his legal career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP in New York City, advising leading corporations on complex legal matters. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Chris serves as the Chair of the Board of Governors for Goodwill Colorado, underscoring his commitment to community service. His strategic leadership earned him recognition as Governance Professional of the Year at the 2022 Corporate Governance Awards.
