
Michael Fein
Michael leverages over 25 years of experience on Wall Street to help clients achieve their objectives in shareholder elections with a particular focus on transactions and activist campaigns. His expertise spans corporate governance, executive compensation, and special situations. Michael’s extensive buy-side experience makes him unique in the valuable insight he is able to provide corporate clients about how to best generate investor support. Michael began his career at Prudential Asset Management Company, as Director of Marketing for PAMCO subsidiary, Matrix Capital Management. He later traded derivatives as a Member of the American Stock Exchange and served as Portfolio Manager of a technology fund before becoming Principal and Founder of an investment firm that invested over US$500 million on behalf of institutional and individual investors. Prior to joining Kingsdale, Michael was Senior Managing Director at Okapi Partners LLC where he advised clients on numerous high-profile transactions and proxy contests. During his career, Michael has sourced and structured more than 350 transactions and successfully orchestrated numerous turnarounds. Select experience includes acting on behalf of Elliott Management Corporation in its campaign against Arconic Inc.; Enzo Biochem, Inc. in its defense against Lone Star Value Management LLC; Biglari Holdings Inc. in its defense against Groveland Capital LLC; EXOR S.p.A. in its opposition to the acquisition of PartnerRe Ltd. by Axis Capital Holdings Ltd.; Apollo Global Management in its acquisition of both Diamond Resorts International, Inc. and Outerwall, Inc.; Bio-Reference Laboratories in its acquisition by OPKO Health; Cyan Inc. in its merger with Ciena Corporation; H.I.G. Capital in its acquisition of NCI, Inc.; Tumi Holdings, Inc. in its sale to Samsonite International S.A.; Cepheid in its acquisition by Danaher Corporation; Sterling Bancorp in its acquisition of Astoria Financial Corporation; and Furiex Pharmaceuticals in its acquisition by Forest Laboratories. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
