JPMorgan Chase, which took home two awards at the virtual IR Magazine Awards – US 2020, has named internal hire Reggie Chambers as its new head of investor relations.
Chambers, currently chief administrative officer for Chase Consumer Banking, will take up the role on January 1, 2021, as current head of IR Jason Scott moves into another position at the bank.
Scott has led the IR team at JPMorgan Chase since 2016 but will be taking on a new role at the firm as head of global technology finance, according to a company statement.
When he moves into IR, Chambers will report to Jennifer Piepszak, JPMorgan Chase’s CFO, who says the two moves highlight the depth of ability within the company. ‘This is a great example of our strong talent bench and mobility for two wonderful leaders,’ she says in the release. ‘I want to thank Jason for the terrific job he has done these last four years helping investors understand our compelling value proposition, and welcome Reggie to the team as he brings a wealth of experience to this role.’
In his current position, Chambers leads all branch innovation and operations for the consumer bank, which includes overseeing branch real estate, ATMs and branch innovation labs, notes JPMorgan Chase, expanding the reach of the bank’s branches from 23 to 48 states. Branch formats also fall under his remit and the company says Chambers has been ‘instrumental in resilience planning and execution for the consumer bank during the pandemic’.
Chambers boasts 20 years of experience in the financial services industry covering everything from management consulting at McKinsey’s strategy and corporate finance practice, principle investing with 3i Group and investment banking and corporate law in New York and Madrid, Spain as well as time in the public sector where JPMorgan Chase notes that he was ‘appointed by [former] president Barack Obama as a White House Fellow at the White House National Economic Council’.
The IR Magazine Awards – US 2020 saw JPMorgan Chase take home the best-in-sector award for financials as well as the prestigious best IR by a senior management team (large cap) for Jamie Dimon, CEO, and Piepszak. In a post-awards video, Scott talks about how he and the team handled what he describes as a ‘busy, challenging, but also pretty rewarding’ year.
