HealthSouth had a tough year in 2011 as it grappled with the uncertainty around the Budget Control Act and President Obama’s Medicare proposal. That put the company squarely in the glare of analysts’ scrutiny. According to the results of the IR Magazine US Awards 2012, however, the investment community applauded the proactive outreach of HealthSouth’s senior management and its chief investor relations officer, Mary Ann Arico, who won the awards for best IR professional – small cap. HealthSouth also won the grand prix for best overall IR program – small cap and was short-listed for best IR by a CEO or chairman – small cap and best IR in sector – healthcare. HealthSouth ranked number 14 in this year’s US Top 100.
