Uralkali introduces bilingual IR app

Russian fertilizer firm Uralkali has introduced a new IR app that promises to link investors with relevant news and information even when they are browsing offline.

The company, best known for its potash fertilizers, has worked closely with a digital corporate communications team at Black Sun in order to produce the app. The software is built entirely in HTML 5, so it is available from any mobile device without having to be downloaded from any specific app store. It is designed to work on a number of devices, including most smartphones and tablets.

Investors can use the app to browse up-to-date share prices, news, collated market reports, past presentations, a calendar of investor events and a bank of useful data. It also interacts directly with Uralkali’s existing online content.

‘Having seen more and more people accessing our website via mobile devices, we knew we had to respond to this and offer a better user experience across multiple devices,’ says Alevtina Labyuk, Uralkali’s senior PR specialist. ‘Black Sun has really helped us to develop a flexible solution that lets us easily communicate with our most important stakeholders.’

The new app publishes information in both Russian and English and offers targeted information for those in each territory, so investors in both countries are kept abreast of relevant and important information. Users are also able to read archived content when offline and file away important articles using the app’s ‘briefcase’ feature.

Dominic Walters, director of digital communications at Black Sun, claims the technology means investors can access information ‘quickly, consistently and cost-effectively’.

‘As the way stakeholders access corporate information changes and more digital communications channels become available, it is more important than ever to manage information effectively to ensure the corporate story is communicated consistently,’ he adds.
