Audio webcasts preferred for IR communications, finds survey

The latest round of the IR Magazine Global IR Survey is currently under way and a look at the responses already in shows a few clear trends emerging. One such trend is the popularity of audio webcasts in IR communications.

More than six in 10 of those who have responded to the survey so far use audio on their website, most notably for earnings calls and investor days. More than four fifths of those respondents find their use of audio webcasts either very or extremely useful. According to the responses so far received, this popularity in both use and usefulness is far ahead of other forms of multimedia such as video webcasts, infographics and corporate videos.

The reason for the popularity of audio among existing respondents lies in its simplicity. Audio webcasts are cost-efficient, easy to set up and user-friendly, allowing companies to reach a broad range of stakeholders with a minimum of fuss. In fact, the only challenge with this form of multimedia that is commonly mentioned by respondents is achieving good sound quality.

The full report on IR and multimedia will be published in the summer edition of IR Magazine and will be based on findings from the global IR survey. The survey also covers other issues, such as changes in attitudes to analyst coverage, sustainability and governance conversations and investor targeting, all of which will be reported on by IR Magazine in the coming months.
