UPS names new IR chief

Sandy Springs, Georgia-based logistics major United Parcel Service (UPS) has promoted Scott Childress to head of investor relations, as former IR head Joe Wilkins moves on to a new role as vice president and corporate controller.

Childress, who has served as vice president of IR for the past year, was previously CFO for the Americas region. Prior to this, he spent 11 years working internationally as vice president of finance for Canada and subsequently for Europe.  

The MBA alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University joined UPS Air Group in 1997, later moving on to various senior financial positions.

Company veteran Wilkins started his career at the NYSE-listed firm in 1985 as a part-time package handler during his studies at Oklahoma Baptist University. He was promoted to accounting manager a few years later, a role he held for seven years, and gained an MBA from Oklahoma City University. He was named head of IR in 2014, having served as CFO for US domestic small package operations for six years.
