Asian companies most reliant on corporate access firms

Forty-four percent of Asian companies say their roadshow invitations come straight from a corporate access firm, according to new research from IR Magazine – a figure that is 8 percentage points higher than the global average.

At the other end of the scale, this compares with just 30 percent of North American companies that say the same. Those in North America are also more likely to extend an invitation direct from the IR team, at 7 percent, compared with 4 percent in Asia. The findings, from the Global Roadshow Report 2017, to be published in the winter 2017 issue of IR Magazine this month, shows that European firms sit closer in numbers to Asian companies with 43 percent of invitations coming from a corporate access firm and 4 percent from the IR team.

But just over half (52 percent) of Asian IROs say their firm uses a mix of the two options for roadshow invitations – the lowest figure of the three regions. At the high end of the scale are those across North America where a mix of options is used for 63 percent of invitations.

Asian IR departments are also least likely to select their own roadshow targets, at 38 percent, according to the 750 research respondents. This compares with 43 percent among North American IR departments and a high of 44 percent among Europeans.
