Deutsche Bank head of IR to move on

Deutsche Bank’s head of investor relations John Andrews is leaving the bank after five years. His leaving date has yet to be confirmed.

Andrews is an IR veteran with 23 years’ experience, having been head of IR at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Citadel and Citigroup before joining Deutsche Bank. IR Magazine has been told it is likely his next move will be into a consulting role.

James Rivett, currently head of fixed-income investor relations, will become head of Deutsche Bank’s IR. He will relocate from New York and be based in Frankfurt.

Andrews’ decision is the latest in a series of senior management moves at the group. In an internal memo, seen by IR Magazine, Deutsche Bank CFO James von Moltke says: ‘John feels this is the right time to take this step with the leadership changes recently announced.’

Von Moltke adds in the memo: ‘We owe John a debt of gratitude for leading the bank’s investor communications over the last five years. In that time, he has helped the bank navigate many challenging and important milestones. He has advised and supported the management board on vital capital-raising, strategy updates and most recently the successful IPO of DWS.’

During Andrews’ tenure at the bank there have been many high-profile changes, including three different CEOs, three CFOs, two rights offerings, one private placement and three different strategies – with a fourth now being worked on.
