New head of IR at Jackson National Life Insurance

Jackson National Life Insurance Company has appointed former AIG head of IR Liz Werner as its new senior vice president of investor relations.

Taking up the role on August 10, Werner brings 10 years’ experience across the financial services industry, including banking, insurance and advisory services. She joins the company’s senior leadership team, where she reports to Axel André, executive vice president and CFO of Jackson, and will lead an established investor relations and ratings agency team.

Werner comes most recently from her role as head of IR at AIG, which underwent a ‘significant corporate transformation’ during her time at the company. ‘In her nearly nine years at AIG, Werner [also] facilitated investor communications for multiple public offerings associated with the US Treasury’s exit of their 92 percent equity ownership following the financial crisis,’ according to a statement announcing her appointment.

It was recently announced that UK insurer Prudential would spin off its American businesses – including Jackson, which will be fully separated from Prudential in a minority IPO followed by full divestment over time.

‘This is an exciting time for Jackson, and I look forward to joining their talented leadership team,’ Werner says in the company statement. ‘Jackson has been a consistent industry leader for many years, and I am eager to contribute to [the team’s] efforts to educate analysts and investors about the company’s financial position, product offerings and disciplined approach to business.’

Werner holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to her most recent position at AIG, she worked in the multinational investment bank division of Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She also served as an equity sell-side analyst covering the insurance industry for almost a decade.
