People moves: Bloomsbury, Electra, Fisker and Cordillera tap new IR heads

This week in investor relations sees independent publisher Bloomsbury appoint Tamsin Garrity as head of investor relations.

Garrity reports to CEO Nigel Newton and group finance director Penny Scott-Bayfield. She brings with her experience in analyzing media companies, financial models, writing research, M&A and communicating with fund managers.

Commenting on the appointment, Newton says Garrity’s new role underlines Bloomsbury’s ‘long-term growth aspirations and commitment to deepening communication with analysts and both existing and potential investors.’

Elsewhere, Electra Battery Materials has named Heather Smiles as vice president of investor relations and corporate development. She returns to the company having previously served as director of IR for Electra until 2019.

In her new role, she is responsible for building and maintaining a strategic investor relations program. ‘We are excited to welcome Heather back to the team as we continue to negotiate the funding to complete construction of North America’s only battery-grade cobalt refinery,’ says Trent Mell, CEO at the firm.

‘At this crucial period of our strategic plan, Heather’s skills and history with the company will be strong assets to the senior leadership team. In addition to investor relations functions, Heather will play an important role in advancing discussions on strategic opportunities and partnerships.’

In other news, Eric Goldstein has been named head of investor relations at automotive company Fisker. He reports to chief financial officer Dr Geeta Gupta-Fisker.

Goldstein has more than 25 years of experience in the investment world. He was previously vice president of IR at SES AI Corporation. Prior to that, he served as vice president of investor relations at Magna International.

‘I’m thrilled Eric has come to Fisker at this important time for the company,’ says chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker. ‘His experience will be a great addition to the Fisker team as we accelerate our growth in 2024.’

Meanwhile, Cordillera Investment Partners has announced that Rachel Levi has joined the firm as head of investor relations.

Based in New York, she reports directly to co-managing partners Agustin Araya, Ashley Marks and Chris Heller.

‘Over the past 10 years we’ve built this firm with a rigorous focus on relationships and, by bringing Rachel on board, we are further cementing our commitment to serving as a trusted and reliable partner to our investors,’ says Heller.

‘Rachel’s extensive background in client services and strategic business development, coupled with her approach to cultivating relationships, will be a productive and seamless add to the talented team we have at Cordillera.’
