People Moves: Air Products and CoStar Group shake up IR leadership

Air Products, the New York-listed provider of gases and chemicals, has named Eric Guter as vice president of IR, effective September 30.

Guter, who has been working at the firm for nearly three decades, began his career in operations and then progressed to general manager for the western region in 2015. Four years later he secured a seat as executive director for the company’s Americas Growth Platforms before progressing to his current tenure as vice president of the Hydrogen for Mobility side of the company in 2022.

Guter will succeed Sidd Majeshwar – with whom he will work through the summer to ensure a smooth handover of IR responsibilities – and report to Air Product’s CFO, Melissa Schaeffer.

‘Having had a very successful nearly 30-year career with Air Products, I know that Eric will bring a wealth of business experience and financial knowledge to the role, including tremendous expertise in hydrogen and the energy transition,’ says Seifi Ghasemi, chairman, president and CEO of Air Products, in a statement.

‘He will be a great resource for the investment community as Air Products drives forward and executes its industrial gases and clean hydrogen growth strategy.’

Meanwhile, Starbucks’ Tiffany Willis has been promoted to senior vice president of IR. Willis joined the Nasdaq-listed coffeehouse giant in 2021 as vice president and head of IR, before integrating ESG engagement into her tenure in 2023. ‘When work ethic and determination is greater than humble beginnings and excuses, goals are realized and dreams are captured,’ she writes in a LinkedIn post sharing the news of her promotion with her network.

During Willis’ tenure as leader of the IR function, Starbucks received three nominations at the IR Magazine Awards – US 2023 and picked up a trophy for best investor event (large cap).

Earlier this week, the Washington-headquartered provider of online real estate marketplaces CoStar Group, named Richard Simonelli as the group head of IR.

Simonelli, who previously led the IR function at CoStar Group between 2011 and 2019, returns from Compass, where he has been working for nearly three years as senior vice president of IR.

In his new role, Simonelli will be responsible for executing the comprehensive communication strategies needed to support long-term shareholder confidence in CoStar Group, reads the company’s official press release.

‘I’m delighted to welcome Rich back to CoStar Group,’ says Andy Florance, founder and CEO of CoStar.

‘As we enter another era of growth for the company, I believe Rich’s experience with CoStar Group’s ambitious plans and track record of success, combined with his residential real estate industry experience, will be more relevant than ever to CoStar Group. His ability to liaise with our shareholders takes on a renewed importance.’
