Welcome to IR Impact – formerly known as IR Magazine

Our new name reflects our new focus: the impact that best-in-class IR can have

You may have noticed a few changes here at IR Magazine – or, as we now like to call ourselves, IR Impact.

Yes, along with our brand-new website, we’ve adopted a new name that we feel better reflects what we can offer our readers, event attendees and partners as we head into 2025.

As many of our readers will know – and remember – our history is rooted in being a printed magazine. For some 30 years the glossy pages of IR Magazine were how we connected with IR practitioners from around the world, sharing best practices and war stories alike.

In the modern era, however, there is increasingly less and less call for a printed publication (much to my sadness, as someone who learned my trade in newspapers) – though of course there is still a need for us to cover the IR profession.

So, when we took the hard decision to stop publishing IR Magazine in a printed format, it started conversations about whether we should still bear the name of that publication as we progress into the 21st century.

As you can imagine, it took some time to arrive at our new identity, but I think our readers will agree that it points to a key part of the evolution of the IR role. No longer is IR merely about financial communications or PR for the capital markets; instead, it’s a profession with significant strategic impact, with IROs increasingly having a seat at the corporate decision-makers’ table.

Not only that, but I think our new name also reflects that we are here to help IROs have the most impact possible in their role, whether that’s being up to speed with emerging technologies and tips, having access to the latest industry benchmarking data at your fingertips or hearing from best-in-class, award-winning IR professionals about how they handle the unique challenges they face.

In short, we’re here to maximize the impact that IROs can have on not just their organizations, but the capital markets more widely.

There’s lots more exciting stuff to be found on our new home which we’ll be telling you about in more detail in the coming weeks:

  • You might like to investigate your ‘My IR’ profile, where you can customize the content you’ll see on IR Impact, whether by industry, sector or subject matter.
  • You could also have a play on our brand-new IR benchmarking tool, which allows you to look through our wealth of historical, in-house research and adjust it according to your own organization and peer group.
  • There’s a packed calendar of events for 2025 featuring new, innovative formats and emerging topic areas.
  • And finally, watch this space for more news about our IR Masterclasses, a series of long-form videos with IR and other capital markets experts giving you in-depth advice for how to tackle some of the biggest challenges in IR.

As I say, do keep your eyes peeled and keenly tuned on IR-impact.com for more information about all of these changes as they arrive.

Until then, we’d love to hear what you think of our new name and website. Let me know at [email protected], or perhaps leave us a comment on LinkedIn here.
