For governance professionals, keeping up with the headlines is no longer enough – that’s why we’re refreshing our mission
Most weeks that I write this newsletter, I’m increasingly aware of the converging challenges facing most people working in the capital markets: ongoing macroeconomic unrest, shifting regulatory goalposts and – of course – the growing impact of AI on our daily lives.
It’s also becoming more apparent that these challenges, though they have an acute impact on IROs around the world, are being widely felt by their colleagues in other departments.
It’s exactly for that reason that we often work hand-in-glove with our colleagues over at IR Impact’s sister site, Governance Intelligence (GI). Those of you who have visited the site in the last week or so may have noticed the fresh lick of paint that our governance, risk and compliance-minded readers have enjoyed.
As my colleague Natalie Bannerman, senior reporter at GI, writes in a piece introducing the new-look website, those shifting factors have led to a change of focus for the platform.
Over the past 20 years, GI has reported on the developments shaping corporate governance. Today, governance professionals operate across regulation, shareholders, technology, risk and the boardroom. They need insight that connects those developments to the decisions they have to make.
That probably sounds very familiar to our IR-minded readers, who are increasingly taking on a more strategic role at their organization in a very similar way.
Beyond a new look – and a website that is far easier for technophobic editors to use without tearing their hair out – Bannerman also reaffirms GI’s commitment to look beyond the headlines to examine what change means in practice, drawing on data, expert insight and the experience of governance professionals.
A refreshed mantra of ‘practical intelligence for better governance’ marks our commitment to answering those challenges.
It’s a great time to visit the site yourself – or perhaps direct your governance colleagues to do so – particularly as we warm up for a busy autumn of events.
