IR moves at gold miners

Mining specialist Andy Davidson has joined Centamin, a FTSE 250, Egypt-focused gold mining company listed in London and Toronto, as head of investor relations.

After graduating from the University of Southampton with a BSc in geology, Davidson worked for six years as a geologist at AngloGold Ashanti.

He then joined copper and gold producer Ivanhoe Mines in Mongolia, before gaining an MSc in mineral project appraisal at Imperial College in London.

He worked as an independent commodities, currencies and mining equity trader from 2003 to 2007, subsequently joining Fox-Davies Capital as a mining analyst.

After a short period at Singer Capital Markets, he joined Numis Securities for three years, where he was a director for metal and mining research. Numis gained recognition this year by being ranked number two in the UK small and mid-caps category in the Thomson Reuters Extel survey awards.

Davidson is replacing Katharine Sutton, who had been Centamin’s head of IR for a year. She is joining competitor Cluff Gold, which has mining interests in West Africa, as head of IR. Prior to Centamin, she was an account manager at Buchanan Communications.

An English literature graduate from the University of York with a postgraduate degree in journalism, Sutton started her career as a broadcast journalist for BBC Radio Leicester.
