ExxonMobil names new head of IR

ExxonMobil, one of the world’s largest oil and gas firms, has appointed Jeffrey Woodbury as its new vice president of IR and secretary.

Woodbury, who will take over the role from September 1, replaces long-serving Exxon employee, David Rosenthal, who moves from investor relations to the position of vice president and controller.

Woodbury, another ExxonMobil veteran, joined the Texas-headquartered company in 1983 as a reservoir engineer in Los Angeles, California and held various technical, planning, operations and management positions within the firm.

According to a statement issued by Exxon, ‘Woodbury became president of ExxonMobil Canada and production manager for Eastern Canada before moving to Moscow in 2003, where he was president for ExxonMobil Russia.’ Before being appointed to his current role as vice president of safety, security, health and environment in 2011, Woodbury held vice presidential positions in engineering, LNG (liquefied natural gas) infrastructure and development.

A University of Southern California graduate with both a bachelors and masters of science degree in petroleum engineering, Woodbury is a board chairman of the National Safety Council, as well as sitting on the board of councilors of the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Rosenthal began his career at the company in 1979 as a financial analyst. He moved through increasingly senior financial and managerial positions at the firm – including a spell as finance and administration manager of Exxon’s copper mining subsidiary in Santiago, Chile in 1994 – before being named assistant controller for Exxon Mobil Corporation for two years prior to being elected to his current position in IR in 2008.
