ABOUT IR IMPACT
IR Impact helps investor relations professionals at listed companies do their jobs better. We host senior-level think tanks and global forums, run awards programmes underpinned by investor and analyst surveys, publish deep-dive editorial content, and survey IROs worldwide on everything from salaries and team structures to IR strategy.
THE ROLE
You will own two things:
- Our research programme – 5 surveys a year that produce the rankings, benchmarks and sentiment data behind our awards and editorial output.
- Our data infrastructure – connecting the information we collect across events, website, surveys and perception studies into a single intelligence layer that drives better products and better outcomes for our sponsors.
This is a hands-on, one-person function and you will own it end-to-end.
1. RESEARCH PROGRAMME
We run 5 surveys per year: 3 investor and analyst perception surveys (awards rankings) and 2 global IRO surveys (summer and winter). Each survey typically generates 200 – 400 responses. Editorial writes the questions. You own everything from build to insight.
Survey build and execution
- Build surveys in Qualtrics once questions are finalised by editorial.
- Apply logic, routing and validation; ensure consistent structure across cycles.
- Test before launch; monitor responses live; close and prepare raw datasets.
Data cleaning
- Ensuring we have enough responses, work with marketing to tweak copy to get better responses.
- Make phone calls to our audience regularly to learn how easy the survey is to fill in and make changes if needed to increase survey responses.
- Remove incomplete, invalid or duplicate responses; validate eligibility.
- Standardise datasets; maintain documented cleaning rules and an audit trail.
Analysis and rankings
- Review responses weekly and flag inconsistencies, skews, etc. early.
- Calculate rankings using consistent scoring methodologies.
- Validate calculations before release; flag anomalies proactively.
- Produce structured analysis summaries for editorial, commercial and awards teams.
Insight and trends
- Identify trends across surveys and compare year-on-year results.
- Highlight shifts in investor and IRO sentiment.
- Package findings (salary benchmarking, team structures, IR trends) into publishable or saleable outputs.
AI-assisted workflows
- Use AI tools to accelerate cleaning, categorisation and theme clustering.
- Generate first-pass insight summaries and automated chart drafts.
- Continuously reduce the time from survey close to insight delivery.
Documentation
- Document all survey workflows so delivery never depends on one person.
- Maintain methodology notes, templates and onboarding playbooks.
2. DATA UNIFICATION
We generate valuable first-party data from desk research, calls with clients, event registration data, event feedback forms, awards entry forms, website behaviour (Google Analytics), surveys (Qualtrics) and more – that will be collated on Hubspot. Today it sits in silos.
- Work with CRM manager to audit every data source and map what we have.
- Build a centralised architecture within HubSpot that connects contacts, companies and behaviours into a single view.
- Establish data hygiene standards: deduplication, naming, expiry dates, enrichment, etc.
- Own tooling decisions within a small-company budget.
3. DASHBOARDS AND REPORTING
- Build easy-to-use dashboards that surface actionable insight for editorial, events and sales teams.
- Offer a connected view of website engagement via Google Analytics and email performance via HubSpot to understand content performance and audience behaviour.
- Mine investor and analyst responses and nomination data for trends and content opportunities – quantitative and qualitative.
4. COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE
- Build a lead-scoring or tagging model within HubSpot to identify prospects for us and sponsors.
- Recommend targeted outreach using the scoring models to ensure we reach the right audience at the right time.
- Create briefs for sales team to use on calls with clients on the latest trends in IR and any interesting information that is commercially useful.
5. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
- Proactively look for ways to enhance the intelligence within the company by enriching existing datasets or adding new elements to the dataset.
- Use data to inform decisions on new events, content, survey topics and awards categories.
- Identify underserved segments or geographies from engagement and survey data.
- Provide the evidence base for pricing, packaging and go-to-market.
INDICATIVE TIME ALLOCATION
The balance shifts over time as data unification is front-loaded in Year 1; commercial intelligence grows as the infrastructure matures.
| Research programme (5 survey cycles) | 35–40% |
| Data unification and infrastructure | 25–30% |
| Commercial intelligence and sponsor reporting | 15–20% |
| Dashboards, product insight and ad hoc | 10–15% |
