Sharon Mathers spent 25 years leading communications, investor relations and public affairs teams for public companies in the life sciences, retail and financial services sectors including CIBC, Canadian Tire Corporation and MDS Inc; most recently as CIBC’s Senior Vice-President of Communications and Public Affairs.
Sharon developed and executed communications plans to support the re-positioning of corporate strategy, M&A transactions, CEO transitions, regulatory reviews and issues management in large complex public companies until her retirement from CIBC in 2016.
Since then she has worked as an internship advisor to more than 100 Rotman MBA students.
Sharon was recognized with the Canadian Investor Relations Institute Award of Excellence in 2010 and the IR Magazine Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
She has served on several not for profit boards including Frontier College, Canadian Investor Relations Institute, Canadian Journalism Foundation and West Park Healthcare Centre. Sharon is a graduate of York University (B.Comm); Rotman (MBA) and holds the ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
