Agnico Eagle Mines: Why an IR-centric C-suite matters

Agnico Eagle Mines took home three awards last week at the IR Magazine Awards – Canada in Toronto, for best investor relations (large cap), best investor relations by a CEO or CFO (large cap) and best in sector – materials.

Agnico Eagle Mines has been one of the most successful companies at the IR Magazine Awards – Canada in recent years, winning 10 honors over the last three years.

IR Magazine caught up with Brian Christie, vice president of investor relations at Agnico Eagle, on the red carpet at the awards. He put his company’s continued success down to a strong IR-centric culture from the C-suite.

In particular, Christie singles out Sean Boyd, Agnico Eagle’s vice-chair and CEO, who took home the prize for best IR by a CEO or CFO (large cap) for the second year in a row. ‘He really understands the importance of interfacing with the investment community and the analysts,’ Christie says. ‘He puts a lot of time into marketing and seeing our investors.’
