Inside the numbers: IR Magazine Awards – US 2019

New York City will play host to the IR Magazine Awards – US 2019 next month and, ahead of the announcement of the short lists, we take a look at the numbers behind the awards-by-nomination categories.

For the second consecutive year, IR Magazine has opened several categories to nominations both from companies and on behalf of companies. This differs from how the majority of the winners are selected, which is through a rigorous survey of the investment community by an independent research group.

The categories open to nominations this year are:

  • Best crisis management
  • Best ESG reporting
  • Best IR during a corporate transaction
  • Best use of technology & social media for IR
  • Rising star

Entries closed on January 18 and IR Magazine can reveal that there were 40 nominations submitted across the five categories. Of these, 28 were submitted by a representative from the nominated company and the remaining 12 companies were nominated by a third party.

While the nomination form requires entries to be short and sweet, entrants are encouraged to submit supporting documents to bolster their case. In total, 122 supporting documents were submitted alongside the nominations – a significant increase on last year’s figure.

IR Magazine’s editorial staff have whittled down the nominees to produce the short lists in each category. Each short-listed company is currently being notified, ahead of the public announcement of the short lists on February 20.

The short-listed entries have been passed on to this year’s judging panel, which will now select the winners. The judges are:

  • Ben Ashwell, editor, IR Magazine
  • Valerie Haertel, experienced IR and corporate communications professional
  • Gary LaBranche, president & CEO, NIRI
  • Smooch Repovich Reynolds, managing partner of the investor relations and corporate communications practice, ZRG Partners

The IR Magazine Awards – US 2019 will be presented on March 20 at Cipriani 25 Broadway. Click here for more information.
