Comcast appoints former sell-sider to lead IR function

Comcast has announced a shakeup of its finance team, with Marci Ryvicker being appointed as the senior vice president of investor relations and Jason Armstrong being appointed as group chief financial officer at subsidiary business Sky.

Ryvicker will report into Mike Cavanagh, chief financial officer of Comcast Corporation and will begin her new role in mid-January. She was most recently managing director and senior equity analyst at Wolfe Research, and previously spent 16 years leading the media research practice at Wells Fargo.

‘Marci has tremendous expertise in the media, technology, cable, and broadcast industries, and is one of the most well-known and highly-respected analysts on Wall Street,’ Cavanagh says in a company statement. ‘I look forward to her bringing her leadership and talents to our strong investor relations and finance teams, which do a terrific job communicating our company strategy to the analyst and shareholder communities.’

Ryvicker succeeds Jason Armstrong in the role. Armstrong begins his new role as CFO of Sky in February. Before working at Comcast, Armstrong spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as the managing director of the technology, media and telecoms research group.

Armstrong replaces Andrew Griffith, who left Sky to become Boris Johnson’s chief business adviser.
