The awards are divided into two sections. The awards by research, which include best overall IR, best IR officer and best in sector, are decided by a survey of portfolio managers, buy-side analysts and sell-side analysts who cover European companies.

This year, more than 600 portfolio managers and analysts took part in the survey, which was conducted during the first and second quarters of 2021.

The awards by nomination cover a range of areas of IR practice, from annual reports to investor events and IR websites, with the winners selected by a panel of experts.

This year, the judging panel featured:

  • Mike Allen, head of research, Zeus Capital
  • Heinrich Ey, co-CIO for European small caps, Allianz Global Investors
  • Simon Gleadhill, corporate reporting & IFRS technical controller, Howden Joinery Group
  • Tim Human, senior reporter, IR Magazine
  • Caroline Le Meaux, head of ESG engagement, Amundi
  • Madeleine Szeluch, investor relations ESG director, Novartis
  • Gervais Williams, head of equities, Premier Miton Investors

Held virtually, the 2021 awards featured video acceptance speeches, a range of networking opportunities and audience competitions.

The full research behind the awards can be found in the IR Magazine Investor Perception Study – Europe 2021. The 52-page report includes verbatim comments from investors and analysts about their voting choices and the points breakdown in each research category for 360 ranked companies.
