Walbrook PR narrows lead with FTI Consulting in AIM client ranking, finds research

Walbrook PR has climbed into second place in the rankings for most financial PR clients on AIM, according to the latest quarterly report from Adviser Rankings.

Between July and October, Walbrook rose from 47 to 50 AIM clients, placing it just four behind top-ranked FTI Consulting, finds the research. Alma PR slips to third place after holding steady at 49 clients during the three-month period.

‘A once seemingly unassailable lead is under challenge,’ say the report authors, noting that only a year ago Walbrook was 16 clients behind first place. ‘FTI Consulting is now within the sights of Walbrook PR in our quarterly AIM rankings after its client count pulled back and the latter adviser brought in three new mandates.’

Walbrook’s three new clients came from the healthcare sector, notes Adviser Rankings, adding to its strong position in this industry. The firm has 31 healthcare clients in total, more than double the 15 of second-placed Consilium Strategic Communications.

‘Tavistock Communications also bagged a trio during the period under review, moving it into [joint] eighth place with Blytheweigh, IFC Advisory and St Brides Partners,’ the report authors write.

‘Numbers were also on the rise for MHP Communications, while Novella Communications and Tulchan Communications made headway in the lower half of the table. The sole debutante through the quarter was Celicourt Communications.’

While its leadership has narrowed in terms of total AIM clients, FTI Consulting continues to ‘dominate’ the client lists for the FTSE AIM 100 and FTSE AIM UK 50 rankings, finds the research. The firm has 20 clients in the FTSE AIM 100, a significant lead over second-placed MHP Communications, which has nine.

‘FTI Consulting increased its advantage at the head of the table after Victorian Plumbing Group was elevated to the AIM top tier,’ says Adviser Rankings. ‘Consilium Strategic Communications and Camarco were on the rise, moving into fourth and joint sixth place, respectively.’

The same two firms sit atop the FTSE AIM UK 50 rankings, where FTI Consulting has nine mandates and MHP Communications has seven. Consilium Strategic Communications is placed third with five mandates.

‘All three leading consultancies within the FTSE AIM UK 50 – FTI Consulting, MHP Communications and Consilium Strategic Communications – increased their client counts in the FTSE AIM UK 50, while another trio comprising Brunswick, Headland and Camarco edged up through the table, albeit due to a reversal from Instinctif Partners,’ write the report authors.
