Corporate access veteran moves to the buy side

Alternative investment management firm Citadel has hired a former corporate access professional to head corporate and broker relations for one of its equity strategies, Surveyor Capital.

Lori Arndt joins the New York-based hedge fund from Nomura, where she had been serving as global head of equities client account management and strategy since 2011.

A political science graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a Columbia Business School MBA alumnus, Arndt started her career on the trading floor at the Bank of Tokyo and Salomon Brothers, before moving into investment banking.

She spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs, working in healthcare investment banking for six years and subsequently building and managing the bank’s corporate access business.

‘I have spent my career investing in senior relationships with corporate clients, and I am very excited to continue to do that at Citadel’s Surveyor Capital,’ Arndt says in a press release. ‘I joined Citadel’s Surveyor Capital because it is as committed to building ‒ and investing in ‒ long-term corporate relationships as I have always been. I am thrilled to be joining a firm with incredibly talented and differentiated investment professionals.’

Although limited to Europe, upcoming regulatory changes in the corporate access landscape are prompting sell-siders to seek greener pastures in-house or in investment management. Several major asset managers, including Norges Bank Investment Management, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, have hired former investment bankers to manage corporate relationships and a number of IR heads are considering adding a roadshow specialist to their team, as various IR career surveys have recently highlighted.
