Hertz Equipment Rental appoints IRO ahead of spin-off

Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation (HERC) has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Higashi to the newly created position of vice president of IR as it prepares to separate from the main car rental business into a stand-alone listed entity.

Higashi is a seasoned IR professional who prior to this appointment ran her own advisory. She previously held senior IR and communications roles at Horizon Pharma, IMCERA (formerly International Minerals & Chemical Corporation), SFN and the Times Mirror Company.

A political science graduate of the University of California in Los Angeles and a chartered financial analyst, Higashi also worked as a principal at communications consultancy Sard Verbinnen for more than three years.

‘Elizabeth brings a demonstrated record of success in broad-based financial, investor and business communications across multiple and diverse publicly traded companies,’ says Larry Silber, HERC’s president and CEO, in a press release. ‘I am delighted HERC will benefit from her expertise as we build programs and drive initiatives to retain, attract and grow our debt and equity investor base as an independent company. In addition, her comprehensive business knowledge and experience will be valuable in advancing HERC’s overall reputation and financial performance.’

HERC, which is being rebranded as Herc Rentals, operates 280 branches worldwide, including 270 in the US and Canada, and 14 international franchises. It was announced last year that the spin-off from NYSE-listed Hertz Global would be implemented in the first half of 2016.
