People moves: New head of IR at Boohoo ahead of Mike Ashley boardroom clash

Plus former head of IR takes over as CFO at Swedish digital bank Northmill

British clothing company Boohoo has appointed a new IR director just days before a crucial showdown with one of its major shareholders, retail tycoon Mike Ashley.

Victoria Huxster will join the London-listed company’s IR team as its IR director in the coming days, joining from textiles maker Coats, where she served as head of IR for four years.

Her prior roles include three years as head of IR at Keller, two years as head of IR at luxury shoemaker Jimmy Choo and various roles on the sell-side, as well as a stint at FTI Consulting.

Announcing her new role on LinkedIn, Huxster said she was ‘happy to share’ that she was joining Boohoo.

It comes as Boohoo’s shareholders will vote on Friday to determine whether Mike Ashley should be appointed as its chief executive, as laid out in resolutions tabled by his retail firm Frasers Group.

In a letter previously sent to shareholders, Boohoo said Frasers’ demands form part of an ‘ongoing campaign by Frasers which appears to be designed to destabilise Boohoo and disrupt your board’s plans to unlock and maximise shareholder value’, adding it was ‘not the first time Frasers has acted in this way’.

Elsewhere, Stockholm-based digital bank Northmill has named Emil Folkesson as its new CFO, effective immediately.

Emil Folkesson, CFO at Northmill

He joins from Swedish credit management firm Intrum, where he has served as interim CFO since February and previously worked as head of IR.

Prior to that, he held roles as head of group treasury at Ratos and worked as an analyst in Nordea Markets’ risk advisory team.

Folkesson brings over 15 years of experience to Northmill and has previously led ‘strategic initiatives’ in areas such as ‘capital acquisition, implementation of growth strategies and financial restructuring,’ the company says.

Founded in 2006, Northmill provides both retail and business banking services to customers throughout Sweden, Norway, Finland and Poland.
