Another sell-side analyst has landed the top IR job at an NYSE-listed large cap. Life insurance major MetLife has appointed John Hall as its new IRO, starting June 1.
Hall, who will be joining as senior vice president and head of IR, succeeds Edward Spehar who has been promoted to CFO for the New York-headquartered firm’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Hall previously spent 11 years at Wells Fargo, where he most recently served as managing director and senior insurance analyst in the equity research department. Prior to this, he held senior analyst positions at Prudential Securities, Alex Brown & Sons and Northington Partners. The Rutgers School of Management MBA alumnus is also the former president of the Association of Insurance Financial Analysts.
‘John brings more than 25 years of valuable insurance industry expertise to MetLife,’ says CFO John Hele in a company release. ‘His deep understanding of the industry, coupled with his experience as an analyst, makes him an excellent addition to our team.’
As a humorous side note, analysts and investors focusing on the US financial institutions group may soon face a bit of confusion, as there will be two New York-based IR professionals called John Hall in the sector: American Express’ IR team features a former finance manager, now an IR director of three years, by the same name.
