In the relatively short time that Marc Lakmaaker has been with Aurora Cannabis as its vice president of investor relations, he says he has seen the market cap increase from around C$60 mn to C$12 bn (from $45 mn to $9 bn).
Lakmaaker started out as an IR consultant before being hired as a full-time member of staff in November 2017. He’s seen the company’s headcount rise from 40 people to 2,500 and the number of facilities increase significantly.
We caught up with Lakmaaker on the red carpet at the IR Magazine Awards – Canada 2019, where we discussed how the cannabis sector has matured, how that has influenced the kind of investors he now speaks to, and how the information needs of retail investors and hedge funds differ greatly.
