Jack in the Box’s DiRaimo announces retirement

Carol DiRaimo has announced that she will retire from her position as chief investor relations and corporate communications officer at Jack in the Box. Her last day will be tomorrow, August 16.

DiRaimo joined the company in July 2008 as vice president of investor relations and corporate communications, before being promoted to her current role in April 2017. Before Jack in the Box, she spent 14 years at Applebee’s International, where she held a variety of positions including as vice president of investor relations between February 2004 and November 2007.

DiRaimo announced her retirement on Jack in the Box’s Q3 earnings call last week. DiRaimo has been mentoring Rachel Webb, Jack in the Box’s director of investor relations and strategic analysis, for the last year. Webb will be the company’s primary IR contact following DiRaimo’s retirement.

Leonard Comma, Jack in the Box’s chairman and CEO, praised DiRaimo following her announcement on the earnings call. ‘Carol, let me just take a moment to congratulate you on your retirement,’ he said. ‘There really is no one more deserving than you. I view you to be one of the most talented professionals I’ve ever had the pleasure and honor to work with. Your code of ethics, care for people and commitment to business has been second to none. You truly are a role model.’

Lance Tucker, who joined Jack in the Box as executive vice president and CFO in March 2018, also singled out DiRaimo for recognition at the start of his remarks. ‘I, too, want to reiterate how much we appreciate the time and energy you’ve devoted to Jack in the Box and the investment community at large,’ Tucker said. ‘It’s been an honor to have one of the industry’s experts here at Jack in the Box, and I’ve enjoyed the relatively short time we’ve worked together.’

DiRaimo is a serial IR Magazine award winner, having taken home the best investor relations officer (small to mid-cap) trophy in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2017 (shared with Julie Dewey). The IR programs at Applebee’s and Jack in the Box were also recognized numerous times during her tenure with both companies. DiRaimo has also been an active NIRI member, having served on the organization’s national board between 2007 and 2011.
