Investor Relations Society taps Douglas Radcliffe as chair

The UK’s Investor Relations Society has named Douglas Radcliffe as its new chair, with immediate effect.

Radcliffe, the former deputy chair and group IR director at Lloyds Banking Group, succeeds David Walker, chief operating officer at British Land, who informed the board of his decision to step down and retire on June 29. He has been a part of the society for the last 10 years, as both chair and a board member.

Taking on the deputy chair roles are Alison Owers, managing director and head of UK at Morrow Sodali, and Ross Hawley, head of IR at Redde Northgate.

‘Instrumental in promoting the IR profession’

Commenting on his retirement, Walker says: ‘I’m very proud to leave the board in such a strong position and I am delighted that Douglas, who has been deputy chair to me for three years, will succeed me as chair of the society. I wish him and the whole team nothing but success.

‘IR is a fantastic profession and has never been in better shape with respect to the breadth and depth of talent.’

Radcliffe expressed his delight in taking over as chair of the society and gave his thanks to Walker, saying how he has been ‘instrumental in promoting the importance of the IR profession at the highest levels and a great advocate for equality and diversity across all our activities’.

Radcliffe adds: ‘Alison and Ross have already made valuable contributions as board members and they bring a wealth of practical experience to our discussions. I look forward to working with them and my fellow board directors.’
