People moves: Steve Winoker swaps GE for PayPal and Klaus Sindahl moves to Embla Medical

Steve Winoker and Klaus Sindahl – two IROs who have frequently appeared on the short lists the IR Magazine Awards – have moved on to new roles.

Winoker, who previously served as chief investor relations officer at engineering giant GE, has moved to a new position at digital payments company PayPal, effective May 15.

During his tenure at GE, Winoker and his team often featured on the short lists for the IR Magazine Awards – US, most recently picking up three nominations at 2024’s gala event. PayPal adds that he ‘built trust and confidence across GE’s investor base, simplified disclosures and communicated the company’s transformation with clarity and candor.’  

Prior to that, Winoker worked at UBS as managing director for US multi-industry and electrical equipment and sector head for US industrials, and had a series of leadership roles in sell-side research, marketing, strategy, financial services and sales.

‘I am excited to join PayPal at this important moment in the evolution of the company,’ says Winoker. ‘[CEO] Alex [Chriss] and the management team have developed a strong plan to deliver for customers that will be exciting for shareholders. I look forward to working with investors to help them better understand how PayPal is executing over time.’

Meanwhile, in Europe, Sindahl has started a new position as head of IR at Icelandic medical technology firm Embla Medical. He previously served as head of IR at Swedish autoimmune treatment developer Hansa Boiopharma, where he picked up the rising star award at the IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2023.

Writing about his new role at the Nasdaq Copenhagen-listed company on LinkedIn, Sindahl says: ‘I am looking forward to being part of the Embla team and connecting with new and existing relations in my new role.’

Elsewhere, Israeli software and data company Similarweb has appointed Rami Myerson as vice president of investor relations, effective immediately.

Myserson joins the New York-listed company from defense technology company Elbit Systems, where he served as head of investor relations since 2019. Prior to that, he spent 12 years as a sell-side equity research analyst in London and Tel Aviv, covering defense and Israeli companies.

In his new role, Myerson reports to Jason Schwartz, Similarweb’s CFO. ‘We are delighted to welcome Rami to the team as part of our efforts to ramp up our engagement with investors and analysts and realize our potential,’ says Schwartz.

Ann DeVries, formerly head of investor relations at Alpharetta, Georgia-based cryptocurrency platform Bakkt, has taken on a new role as head of strategic finance and investor relations at Banc of California, where she reports to CFO Joe Kauder.

‘I am thrilled to have Ann join our team,’ says Kauder. ‘The IR function at Banc of California has become increasingly important following our transformational merger with PacWest Bancorp in November 2023. Ann’s deep experience building and cultivating relationships with institutional investors and sell-side analysts will increase our already growing opportunities to share our performance and strategy with the investor community.

‘Ann also brings extensive strategic finance experience to our team and will augment our knowledge and capabilities as we compete in an increasingly complex banking environment.’

Finally, Sonja Galton has moved to a new role at Agnico Eagle Mines, becoming director of internal communications and digital channels. She has served in various communications positions at the Canadian mining company in a career that spans 12 years.
