TD Bank and Skeena Gold & Silver the cream of the crop at the IR Impact Awards – Canada 2026

Banking group scooped five awards while mining company scored four at gala event in Toronto

TD Bank emerged at the head of the pack of Toronto-listed companies at the IR Impact Awards – Canada 2026, scooping five awards at the gala evening that recognized the country’s leading investor relations teams.

The banking group’s haul included recognition for best overall investor relations (large cap) and best investor relations officer (large cap) for Brooke Hales, senior vice president of investor relations, alongside a trophy in three other categories.

Mining development company Skeena Gold & Silver was the second most-decorated company of the evening, taking home four awards including best overall investor relations (mid cap) and best investor relations officer (mid cap) for Galina Meleger, its vice president, investor relations.

Fellow mining company Agnico Eagle Mines was shortly behind both companies, taking home three awards for best IR website, best sustainability reporting (large cap) and best use of social media and video.

Five other companies – Pet Valu Holdings, DATA Communications Management, Transalta Corporation, Celestica and CN – took home two awards each.

Engineering firm AtkinsRéalis Group was awarded the inaugural trophy for Best CEO communications, while the best IR Impact awards – which recognize IR teams who made a significant difference to the fortunes of their organizations – went to Great-West Lifeco and Calian Group for the large cap and small to mid cap categories, respectively.

The IR Impact Awards – Canada 2026 recognized leading IR practitioners across more than 30 categories at a black-tie event held at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

Those awards are split into two distinct categories – researched and nominated awards – both celebrating companies that are leading the way in IR across the country. In both categories, any publicly listed company in the Canada had the opportunity to win an IR Impact award.

For researched categories, companies did not submit nominations but instead were hand-picked by hundreds of analysts and investors who cast their votes in a national survey conducted by IR Impact.

The nominated categories, meanwhile, invited companies to submit written entries to articulate their success and achievements over the past year. The winning entries were picked by a panel of expert judges.

This year’s judging panel comprised:

  • Brian Christie, former vice president, investor relations, Agnico Eagle Mines
  • Janet Craig, founding partner, Endeavour
  • Colleen Johnston, former CFO, TD Bank
  • Nathalie Megann, president and CEO, Canadian Investor Relations Institute
  • Gord Nelson, CFO, Cineplex
  • Laurie Havelock, editor, IR Impact.

Winners of the best overall investor relations and best IR professional awards were also admitted to the IR Impact Hall of Fame, an exclusive alum organization reserved for best-in-class IR teams.
